Aidan then directed the crowd over to where Nate was patiently waiting
on his dirt bike. Ladies and gentleman, our next act is ready
for your viewing pleasure. Please follow me at this time.
Once we reached the stunt area, we saw that Nate was revving his
dirt bike, causing plumes of blue smoke to sputter out of the exhaust
pipe. The front tire was pointed up the ramp which would take the
bike sailing out over twenty cars before it landed on another ramp
pointed down. The crowd of people gathered on either side of the
ropes near the cars that were lined up, and it was so big that Nate
had to blink his eyes a few times to make sure he wasnt imagining
things.
Aidan blew his whistle with a loud shrill. Ladies and gentlemen,
I present to you a third grader at St. Joes. His name is Nathan
and he will dazzle us with a daring jump on his dirt bike over those
twenty crushed cars. Ready when you are, Nate.
The boy flipped the face guard on his helmet down over his eyes
and stuck his thumb up in the air, signaling that he was ready for
action. Decked out in his black and yellow fireproof dirt bike suit,
Nate looked totally awesome. With one final rev of the engine, the
back tire began spinning, sending waves of dirt into the crowd of
spectators. The dirt bike suddenly flew up the ramp like a shot
before sailing high into the air and cresting over all twenty cars.
With a thump, the dirt bike touched down on the other ramp as Nate
slammed on the brakes and spun the back of his bike around so that
another wave of dust and dirt blew into the crowd. As expected,
a huge round of cheering and applause sounded as Nate shut off his
dirt bike and pulled off his helmet.
That
was awesome, Nate, I hollered while clapping my hands.
As
the applause continued, many younger kids ran out towards our hero
and begged him for autographs. Feeling like a star, Nate hammed
it up for the crowd as he signed autographs and smiled for mothers
and fathers who took pictures of him with their children. All in
all, it was a fantastic start to our circus!
